Walt Disney World® Golf Blog

Walt Disney World® Golf, operated by Arnold Palmer Golf Management, is proud to have hosted the Special Olympics Florida Invitational at Disney’s Palm and Magnolia golf courses on March 31 and April 1, 2016.

The title sponsor for the event was Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, with Co-Presenting sponsors Accenture and ServiceNow and Decurtis Corporation serving as meal sponsor. There were 60 other corporate sponsors who kindly provided financial support to this wonderful event.

The scramble format golf event, which consisted of morning and afternoon shotgun starts due to high demand, generated over $1 Million dollars in proceeds that will provide the majority of funding for over 37,000 athletes from 54 counties in Florida and enable them to participate in multiple sporting events later this year. These events include the Special Olympics Florida State Golf Championships in September, to be again hosted by Walt Disney World® Golf.

There are no costs to the athletes or their caregivers to participate in these events, so fund-raisers like the Florida Invitational are critical to maximizing the opportunities for Special Olympics athletes to get involved.

We want to thank all of the sponsors, our colleagues and associates for their continued and strong commitment to making this event a great success at the “Happiest Place on TURF!”
